Tag # 7-29 "Home" #onelittletag

Hello my friends, this is the last tag tonight.  I had a few Gelli prints that I had put aside to use as tag backgrounds.  I chose one and trimmed out some tags.  I used a Paper Artsy stamp set using various Archival ink and black versafine ink.  All I did to finish it off was mount it to balck card.

Thank you for stopping by once again!  Have an artful and awesome day!

More Deli Gelli print fun

Hello my friends
Shaving cream wasn't the only thing I got into yesterday.  I have been wanted to get out my Gelli plate for a little fun, so I also took that with me to the art club.  It's great there, I have lots of room to spread out!
Here's a look at some of the deli paper, Gelli prints I created for collaging.

Have I mentioned how much I love my Gelli plate!

I think I should be good for collage papers for a little while now.

Needless to say, I had some fun, yesterday and thanks for letting me share it with you.  Have an awesome and artful day!

Tag 5-23 "You Make Me Laugh" #onelittletag

Welcome to my blog!
This tag is a "catch-up tag" from the One Little Tag Craft Challenge.  The challenge that week was to use Gelli prints.  This is a background that I created by collaging some of the deli paper I had Gelli printed.  I added marks and splatters with distress paint.  I added some embellishments that I have had in my stash forever, a sentiment from a Fiskars stamp set and did some outlining with a micropen and a Posca paint pen.
I hope you find it cheery, and thank you for stopping by!

Artfest on the Esplanade

(lots of tags!  Many you may have seen from the FB group, One Little Tag Craft Challenge, that I am participating in))

Hello my friends!
This is what I was up to yesterday.  Every year, the City of Pickering, along with Pine Ridge Arts Council (PRAC) holds Artfest at the end of May.  There are Many different artisans displaying their work, from painting, photography, wood carving, lots of jewelry, glass work, textile work and many  more!
Often there are performing arts as well with dancers and bands.  This year the was a  Blues Fest and I was in a great spot to be entertained by the great music all day..
It was a beautiful day, although quite hot.  I ended up with a fantastic spot right near the entrance and shaded under the trees.  For some reason, it is often really windy at Artfest, which is a little annoying when you are trying to keep your display from blowing all over, and you wish the wind would stop!   Be careful what you wish for!  This year everyone was wishing for a little wind.  I have to say, I did get a little bit of a breeze where I was.  So, once the set up was done (it was definitely hot doing that), and I could just sit down and relax, I was pretty comfortable.
Usually, my daughter is with me at Artfest, helping out.  She can man the booth so that I can have a look around, chat with my friends that are also participating or take a bathroom break (it's a long day that calls for lots of water!).  But she was busy yesterday, rehearsing all day for her High Schools performance of "Hairspray", which she is STARRING in (how proud am I!).  It starts a four day run on Wednesday night.  So I doubt I will see much of her until it is over.  I can hardly wait to see it!  But I really missed her yesterday at Artfest.  She's always a great help and good company for a long day.
I have to say thank you to my friend Margaret, who was also doing the show, she was there if I needed a break, and thanks to my friend Bonnie, who cam by and she took care of things so I could have a look around.
There was a lot of people out, enjoying the weather, taking their dogs for a walk, having a beer and listening to some blues and just having a nice day.  So there were lots of people to talk to.  This is never a high sales  show for me, but I do it every year just because I enjoy it.

Mary and Cathy from PRAC were there, making sure things were on track and Mary got a lot of pictures of the show which maybe I will be able to add to this post,  or link to, if it's okay with Mary, and those of you that have never been can see what it's about and maybe join us next year!
Thanks for stopping by, have an awesome and artful day!

"Artist" Gelli print collage Tag 5-8 MMM#2 #onelittletag

Welcome to my blog!
I created this tag using some of the Gelli Deli prints I did the other day.  I collaged the background using various prints

I had some fun with mark making using distress paint, archival ink, a Heidi Swapp stamp and my white Posca pen.  I used a Tim Holtz stamp to Stamp "Artist" on another piece of Gelli print that I collage on and the outlined.
I hope you enjoyed my tag!  I have been busy tonight, so I will be posting a few more tags shortly.
Thanks for stopping by!

Deli Gelli prints Some Gelli printed collage papers

Hello my friends!
I am so excited!  I FINALLY got some deli paper.  I didn't know where to get it, or really exactly what I was looking for.  I finally ordered it on-line and hoped I would be getting what I wanted.  And I did!
So I had some fun yesterday at the art club (Ajax Creative Arts) and took in my Gelli plate, my paints and some deli paper.
I have a hard time getting the camera to do justice, sometimes.  Some of these turned out really pretty and I hope you can see them well enough..  They all are somewhat muted. That must have just been how I was feeling, because it wasn't a conscious thing.  I think next time I will use some bolder colours as well.

Now what will I do with these? You may ask.  I will use them as collage papers for my tags and mixed media artwork.  So you can look forward to seeing in the background of some new art!
Thank you for stopping by!

Queen Bee #onelittletag

Tag 2-4 - This week on  the One Little Tag Craft Challenge, we have a prompt for the week, it is "mothball". What this means is that we are challenged to pull out the things that have been hidden and forgotten in the back of our shelves and cupboards, the things we haven't used for a long time, or bought and never used. Take them out, dust them off and give them life.  I have several "mothball" elements in this tag. The background is from my stash of Gelli print tags, the bee is also from my stash, something I die cut and embossed probably a year or more ago (Tim Holtz) but my real mothball items are my perfect pearls, which I haven't used in forever, and my crown embellisment (also Tim Holtz). I have so many beautiful embellishments that I have hoarded away. At some point I started thinking I should make all my own . Am I crazy??? When I have drawerfuls of pretty charms and stuff??? That's going to be one of my goals this month, (maybe this year), to use more of them.
I just want to take a minute to thank you for stopping by my blog. As I have mentioned before, I am very new to this and it's so motivating to see that people, from all over the world, have taken the time to have a peek at what I'm up to. Thanks!

Sassy Britches #onelittletag

I had been thinking of using this Dylusions quote and the Tim Holtz "Runway" stamp set to make a tag for a while. From this, three tags were born.

I also did some stamping and preparation for some future tags while I had everything out. Once again, I used some of my Gelli print backgrounds (I am getting a lot of milage out of those!).  I used my stamp positioner and first stamped in a lighter colour to show where the image would be on the tag
I then painted a light coat of gesso to mute the background behind the image

I then stamped over the gesso with black archival ink.  I also stamped the image with some white Colorbox pigment ink just slightly off register.

As you can see from the photos, I did several that I didn't use for this project. Once I narrowed down which ones I was going to use, I decided how to finish them off.  I used my Prima watercolour pencils to color in the dresses on 2 tags.  There seems to be a lot of pigment in the pencils, I coloured quite lightly and went over it with an aquapen and the colour came alive and moved nicely over the gesso.

I masked off my image with some low tac painters tape and used some Prima and Tim Holtz stamps with archival ink in the background.  I used some Distress paint with some lids and caps dipped in the paint and splattered some Picket Fence white Distress Spray Stain to  make my background markings.  Then I stamped my sentiments (Dylusions and Prima) onto white card, trimmed then out, edged them  with Prima edgers or distress ink, glued them into place and went around them with a black Stabillo All water soluable pencil, finishing it off with a light touch with the aquabrush.
