Pretty Tag made from scraps for #onelittletag

Hello my friends!
Well, Wednesday is usually an Art Club day (Ajax Creative Arts), but the weather did not cooperate, and we had a snow day instead.  That doesn't mean that I  couldn't have a crafty day, though.  I will confess, I did not leave the house and wore comfy p.j.s all day!

For those of you that are new to my blog, at the very beginning of the year, I created several background sheets using spray inks and stencils.  I call them my "spray play" sheets and I created them to cut dowm into tags, or collage or use as backgrounds for an art journal page (which I am determined to do this year!)

I have cut out several tags from these pretty sheets already. (if you scroll through my blog you will see many of those tags) and I have been saving some of the scraps to use later to create  a different background

Some of the offcuts just looked so pretty to me that I didn't want to throw them away.  I had little bits from other papers I had used as well and I decided I would save them and create a tag with them.  I glued them down to some card and them trimmed all around.  I edged all around with gold ink.

I also did some die cutting today.  I find die cutting therapeutic for some reason.  I think I get a certain satisfaction when I run a paper through my die cutting machine and it comes out as a beautiful and intricate embellishment.  Sometimes I will die cut for hours and never actually create anything. True story, a Mimi fact, lol.  A snow day is a perfect day to bring out the Cuttlebug!

So this tag has a lot of die cut elements.  I created the flower using some lovely vellum.  Now, here is the day coincidence.  The new prompt for OLTC had not been posted yet this week and it turned out to be "music", to be interpreted any way we like.  So this tag, with its music notes, qualifies although I had no idea when I was making it! I think I will have some fun with this weeks prompt.  Stay tuned!

Thank you so much for stopping by to see what I have been up to.  For those of you that are crafty, I hope I have inspired you to use up some of those scraps instead of throwing them away, and  create something!

"Noel" A new Christmas card, a Shaker card

Hello All!  Today's card is a shaker card, which is something I am fairly new at.  I have only made one before.  I started off with my distress ink blended background.  I splattered the water reactive ink with a water/ perfect pearls mixture.

I stamped my image with a Tim Holtz set from a couple of years ago, using Versafine Black Onyx ink in my home-made stamp positioner so that I could repeat stamp a few times to get a good, solid and dark impression.

I used my new Tim Holtz die again, along with an Elizabeth Crafts die and a Tim Holtz punch.  I knew this die would be versatile!  I die cut the globe from fun foam as well which I sandwiched between the layers to give dimension and create the space for my shaker elements.  I used some mylar to cover the front of my shaker element and under the top two layers.

Once my card was assembled, I embellished it with the globe "stand", the Noel sentiment, a few pine boughs punched out of gold card and a purchased snowflake embellishment (from Michaels)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and checking out my latest Christmas card.  I hope you enjoyed it!
Have an amazing day everyone!

My latest Christmas card using a Tim Holtz die

Hello my friends!  Thank you for visiting and having a look at my latest Christmas card.
I created this card using my new Tim Holtz die.  I have a feeling that this is going to be one of my favourite and most versatile die sets in my collection.

I also used an Inkadinkadoo stamp set.

I used distress ink to blend a background.  I punched a circle out of some low-tac shelf liner to make a mask for the moon.   I just love how water reactive distress ink is, and I  splattered some water with some perfect pearls in it to give a snowy shimmery effect.  I edged the houses and the inside of the globe  I used my Wink of Stella clear to add some shimer to the moon and the roofs.

I had some gold trim with an adhesive back (that I got from Michaels) that I used to embellish the globe.

This was a fun card to make because I like to create little scenes.  It took a bit of time to assemble all the pieces, so it wouldn't be ideal to make multiple cards, but very nice for that special card.

Thanks again, so much for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope you enjoyed my latest card and that perhaps it has inspired you to create your own card.

Have an awesome day!

Tag # 7-27 "Bonne fĂȘte" #onelittletag

Hello again, my friends!
Continuing with my personal challenge today, of using backgrounds and die cuts from my stash, here is another tag.

This background was one that I created within the last few weeks.  I painted the background with a baby wipe, collaged some bits of paper napkins and added gold embossing paste through a stencil.  The butterflies were ones that I created quite a while ago, probably over a year.  They were punched out of vellum, stamped and coloured on the back.

I stamped my sentiment on some scrap paper and punched it out

I assembled my tag, edged the tag in gold ink and mounted it to black card.

Thanks so much for looking, I hope you enjoyed this tag.  Stay tuned for another!

Update!  I have had a few people ask me about gold embossing paste, so I thought I would share a photo of the product.  It is a Viva Decor product called Modelling Cream.  It does have a creamier texture than some pastes.  I purchased it from Amazon.ca.  A special note, I have heard that t cold temperatures can damage this product, so it may be wise to consider that if you are ordering online.  I did make sure to order mine before winter here in Canada last year.  It's a good thing I ordered it when I did because it did take some time to get here

Tag 5-23 "You Make Me Laugh" #onelittletag

Welcome to my blog!
This tag is a "catch-up tag" from the One Little Tag Craft Challenge.  The challenge that week was to use Gelli prints.  This is a background that I created by collaging some of the deli paper I had Gelli printed.  I added marks and splatters with distress paint.  I added some embellishments that I have had in my stash forever, a sentiment from a Fiskars stamp set and did some outlining with a micropen and a Posca paint pen.
I hope you find it cheery, and thank you for stopping by!

MMM #11 Torn Paper Strips Mixed Media Morsels

Welcome to my blog!
This is a background I created using torn paper strips, a prompt from Cat on the Mixed Media Morsels FB group.  Cat Hand posts weekly videos with different mixed media techniques to try.  She calls them "morsels".  I have been doing my morsels in a random order.  Sometimes they might work with a tag challenge that I am doing, or sometimes Ii may have supplies out that will work with a particular morsel, or sometimes there may be one that I am just in the mood to try.  I did join this group a little late, but there is no pressure to get anything done by a specific time and they are all just suggestions.  Everyone does them their own way.  But again, as in the One Little Tag Craft Challenge FB group that I participate in, it's all about staying creative and inspired.  Keeping it fun is a big part of the creative process, in my opinion anyways!
For this technique, I took some printed tissue (that I used for MMM #5 an earlier post), some plain tissue paper and some plain white paper.  I used various different sprays, Dylusions, Heidi Swapp, Recollections Colorsplash or Boho and some Lindy's stamp gang..  I sprayed the paper and tissue, let it dry and then tore it into strips.  I collaged the strips onto the tag with mod podge.
I like the way this turned out and I have lots of papers left to collage some more tags or maybe a canvas.
Thanks for looking, have an awesome and artful day!

Mixed Media Morsel #5 - Tissue paper background

Hello my friends!
Todays tag is for the Mixed Media Morsels group.  This is MMM#5, which is a prompt to use tissue paper as your background.  I used Tim Holtz printed tissue paper, mod podged it onto my tag.  I then used various  Dylusions sprays to colour it.  For the finishing touches, I used my Gold ink pad to swipe across the raised areas and along the edges and finally, some black archival ink on the very edges.  Oh, and of coarse, some splatters!  I like how this turned out.  I'm not sure how I am going to finish off this background into a tag, but I will be sure to share when I do!
Thank you for stopping by.  Have an awesome and artful day!

"Artist" Gelli print collage Tag 5-8 MMM#2 #onelittletag

Welcome to my blog!
I created this tag using some of the Gelli Deli prints I did the other day.  I collaged the background using various prints

I had some fun with mark making using distress paint, archival ink, a Heidi Swapp stamp and my white Posca pen.  I used a Tim Holtz stamp to Stamp "Artist" on another piece of Gelli print that I collage on and the outlined.
I hope you enjoyed my tag!  I have been busy tonight, so I will be posting a few more tags shortly.
Thanks for stopping by!

Deli Gelli prints Some Gelli printed collage papers

Hello my friends!
I am so excited!  I FINALLY got some deli paper.  I didn't know where to get it, or really exactly what I was looking for.  I finally ordered it on-line and hoped I would be getting what I wanted.  And I did!
So I had some fun yesterday at the art club (Ajax Creative Arts) and took in my Gelli plate, my paints and some deli paper.
I have a hard time getting the camera to do justice, sometimes.  Some of these turned out really pretty and I hope you can see them well enough..  They all are somewhat muted. That must have just been how I was feeling, because it wasn't a conscious thing.  I think next time I will use some bolder colours as well.

Now what will I do with these? You may ask.  I will use them as collage papers for my tags and mixed media artwork.  So you can look forward to seeing in the background of some new art!
Thank you for stopping by!

Tag 4-10 "The Eyes Have It" #onelittletag"

Tag 4-10
Welcome to my blog!  I am , and will be for a little bit yet, playing catch-up on the FB challenge I am participating in, the One Little Tag Craft Challenge.  The challenge of the next few tags is to use magazine or flyers collaged into your tag.  I went through the magazine (Glow) and pulled out all the pages with images that I would be able to line up.  I trimmed them all out and assembled my tag.
This tag was kind of personal to me.  As I am legally blind, eyes are very symbolic to me.
Thanks for joining me and have an awesome day!

Tag 4-3 "Dare to Spread Your Wings" #onelittletag #MMM#9

Hi there!  I am playing catch up for the tag challenge I have been participating in. ( the One Little Tag Craft Challenge).  This tag is doing dual duty and is also my MMM #9 tag for the other FB challenge I am participating in (Mixed Media Morsels).
The week  14 challenge for One Little Tag is "put a bird on it" and the MMM #9 prompt is "Whimsical Birds".
I have actually been missing doing my tags.  I was doing so well, and now I have fallen so far behind. but I am not going to be discouraged and am going to get back to it.  I also have some painting to do, so I may not be doing tags every day, but I have been enjoying the motivation to be creative every day.  So if you have been enjoying my tags, be sure to check back because there will be more.  I am hoping to have some paintings to share too.
Thanks for stopping by!

Tag# 4-13 MMM #15 Mosaic Collage

Welcome!
Today's tag is a combination of challenges.  The challenge on #onelittletag is to collage with magazine pages and the prompt at Mixed Media Morsels is to collage a mosaic background.
So I cut up a magazine page to use for my mosaic collage. I did have enough pieces to do it entirely blue, but I wanted to add a random pop of some colour.  Once I finished, I coated it with gloss medium/varnish.  It was interesting to do and looks kinda cool, but I don't know how often I will use this technique.  It's a little tedious and difficult to do with my vision.  These are fairly large  pieces, so pretty primitive (which I actually like) but some of the members of MMM used fairly small pieces.  It probably took them quite a while to do, but the results were quite striking!
