Hello there!
Thank you for stopping by. One of the first things you should know about me is that I am completely new to blogging! So please be patient with me. I paint, I love mixed media and I enjoy card-making. Something I haven't done before, but that I would like to explore and share, is art journaling. I watch several talented and creative artists on YouTube and would eventually like to attempt making some videos myself.
Another thing you might want to know about me is that I am legally blind. I have no central vision in one eye and the central vision in my other eye is damaged. Our central vision is what we use to focus and see detail. I know that these may seem like strange hobbies for someone with a vision impairment to choose. Ironically, when faced with my vision impairment, I suddenly wanted to paint, something I hadn't done since I was young. The crafting, which I had never really done before, followed a few years later. What this means for me is that I may have to approach things and do things a little differently than those of you that can see. Since I have to get "up-close and personal" to everything that I work on, I haven't quite figured out how I will be able to do a card-making video that shows more than the back of my head (lol). But I'll work on that. However, I can share my projects here.
My sister, who lives almost 3000 miles away, is another reason for this blog. I haven't seen her for a very long time. A few months ago, I started sending her out some card-making supplies because I have a lot and I thought it was something she may enjoy. Turns out, I was right. I'd like to share the card-making experience with her, give her some ideas and actually be able to show her how to do them. I wanted to be able to create together, despite the distance. It should be interesting, considering how technologically challenged we both are!
I have received so much inspiration from social media, and so many talented people have been very generous with their creative ideas. I would like to give a little back if I can. as I share with my sister. I also hope that I can inspire at least one person to give art a try, whether it's painting, card-making, or anything creative. Don't be held back by self-doubt. I believe, if you have the urge, you have creative ability just waiting to find a way to express itself.
My daughter told me that this is way too long (she calls it TL;DR). So to anyone that has made it to the end, thanks so much for taking the time. I hope I will be able to offer some ideas and inspiration as I figure out how to blog!
